I don’t follow Facebook religiously, but recent news will be problematic for the company:
- Overcharging advertisers – if Facebook’s algos aren’t reliable to repost delivered ads – it will be hard for marketers to justify the spend. There are plenty of places to spend money on web advertising.
- Editing vs. Free speech. If Facebook has to monitor all of the content – and make sure it is legit, it can then be held responsible for it… both expensive propositions
- Friends I know in the tech industry have to train new recruits (read college age) how to use facebook to manage social media accounts. If the next generation has moved on from facebook, how long until Facebook is the next MySpace?
